OVERVIEW
The course prepares you to handle grade 2 whitewater in a solo or tandem canoe.
During this course we will work on paddle technique and canoe manoeuvres for swift water conditions including:
Paddle strokes for moving forward, backward, sideways, and for turning and balance.
Turning while carving to maintain momentum
Edging the boat when paddling in rapids
Taking eddies
Ferrying
Making C- and S-turns
Surfing a canoe
The next course is planned at 6-7 May 2023 on a class I-II river within 2 hours driving from Oslo.
PRICES
This course costs 3000 NOK, If necessary, we can provide equipment for rent. In the price, meals are not included.
GRADE
You must be proficient in paddling a canoe on quiet waters to take the course.
GROUP SIZE AND GUIDES
The group is limited to 6 persons with a 1:3 guide ratio so that we can tailor our programme to your previous experience and individual goals.
LOCATION
In this course, we usually paddle down a class I-II river and camp along its borders.
DURATION
This course lasts two days, usually on the weekends from 10-16.
WEATHER CONDITIONS
In bad weather, the arranged activity will continue regardless. If the weather conditions are dangerous, the instructor will cancel the activity. If no alternative is found, Norvantur will refund the registration.
SAFETY
Our outdoor activities have a minimal risk to our participants. At Norvantur, we are trained to assess the risks and trained in rescue techniques and first aid. Severe or extreme conditions are not part of our program.
CANCELLATION
In case of cancellation by the participant, we charge cancellation costs. These cancellation costs depend on the number of days remaining until the start of the activity. Participants cannot claim compensation in case of cancellation due to ‘force majeure’. In case of cancellation of the activity by Norvantur, the full registration sum will always be refunded. For safety reasons it may be necessary to change the program during the activity.
