OVERVIEW

In the darkest months of the year, hundreds of frozen lakes await skaters around Oslo. We study the map and head into the forest in search of natural ice. At the first lake we put on our skates, and together with the necessary safety equipment we explore the smooth ice. On the way we systematically check the thickness of the ice with safety equipment. When we have crossed one lake, we walk on a forest path to the next lake. We glide over the new ice with ease and we discover more and more both on skates and on foot.

It’s a unique experience to discover nature this way and see the pink sky reflected in the ice. With a little bit of luck we may hear the beautiful melody of new black ice on the way. Our adventure may also include making a campfire, playing some ice hockey or enjoying other skating fun on the ice.
